The Tower Companies has engaged Design Collective to design the first two residential towers of the 27-acre Blairs Redevelopment in Downtown Silver Spring, following Montgomery County’s Preliminary Plan and Project Plan Approval. The first phase of redevelopment involves the design of a 14-story mixed-use high-rise building featuring 284 units, 177 parking spaces, and 30,000 SF of indoor/outdoor amenity spaces including a two-story floating wellness center in the courtyard and a rooftop pool terrace overlooking Rock Creek Park. At present, the first phase is targeting LEED Gold certification and is under construction with a substantial completion date of December 2016. The second phase of redevelopment will involve the design of an 18-story mixed-use high-rise building adjacent to the first phase.
